Clinical Assistant Professor Position Department of Teaching and Learning University of Miami The Department of Teaching and Learning in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Miami seeks applications from qualified persons for the position of full-time, non-tenure, Clinical Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Department's undergraduate program in Elementary and Special Education and the Master's programs in Special Education and Education and Social Change. With this position, the Department of Teaching and Learning seeks to expand our enduring commitment to teaching and scholarship that focuses on preparing teachers to work in diverse classrooms at the intersection of race, languaging and literacies diversity, immigration, gender identity, and different abilities. The School of Education and Human Development includes a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to creating a center of excellence for the study and promotion of education. Required: Ph.D or Ed.D in Education, with a focus on instruction and/or teacher preparation; K-12 teaching experience and/or at least one year of teaching in a college-level teacher preparation program. Essential areas of expertise: - Teaching and teacher preparation;
- Culturally responsive academic assessments for K-12 students;
- Pedagogical knowledge related to:
- inclusive classroom instruction;
- classroom management;
- culturally and linguistically diverse students; and
- students with disabilities.
Duties: - Teach a 4-4 load per year as assigned in the Department of Teaching and Learning;
- Oversee school-based field experience associated with courses in the teacher preparation program;
- Serve as a liaison to further the University's partnerships with local schools;
- Engage in service to the University and community; and
- Participate in Department, School, and University committee work.
Salary will be commensurate with teaching experience. This will be a 9-month position, renewable every year contingent on performance and other reappointment policies as found in the Faculty Manual.
