POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT The Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music at the University of Miami Assistant Professor of Professional Practice, Music Therapy POSITION: Full-time faculty position in music therapy. The appointment is effective August 15, 2022. QUALIFICATIONS: A terminal degree in Music Therapy or a closely related field is required; Doctorate preferred. Candidate must have board certification and a minimum of three years of music therapy clinical experience beyond internship. A background in college teaching and/or clinical supervision experience is highly desired. DUTIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music therapy, including theory and practice of music therapy in the areas of cognition, communication and sensorimotor functioning. Coordinate and supervise music therapy clinical practica to include establishing and maintaining professional liaisons with clinical sites within the Miller School of Medicine and other locations at which music therapy services are provided. Other duties may include supervising graduate student research and assisting with supervision of graduate teaching assistants in both instructional and clinical settings. APPOINTMENT: Assistant Professor of Professional Practice. Nine-month appointment, renewable; Salary commensurate with qualifications. THE UNIVERSITY AND THE FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC: The University of Miami is a private, independent research university with an enrollment of over 17,000 students from all fifty states and over 100 countries. The main campus is located in Coral Gables, an attractive, residential community of Miami. The Frost School of Music has an enrollment of approximately over 500 undergraduate students and more than 300 graduate students, with majors in 31 programs offering B.A., B.M., B.S., A.D., M.M., M.A., M.S., D.M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. The Music Therapy Program is housed within the Department of Music Education and Music Therapy, and offers the BM and MM in Music Therapy, as well as the MM with Undergraduate Equivalency and the PhD in Music Education with Music Therapy Emphasis.
